In partnership with the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, the SAWM finally found a temporary home in Vancouver’s Chinatown. Taking pride-of-place on an exterior wall enclosing the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Public Park, the 24′ x 6′ ft. digital reproduced mural now welcomes visitors to the Park from the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Courtyard.

The mural installation coincided with Asian Heritage Month in May 2025. To celebrate, the SAWM team organized a series of Chinatown mural walks throughout the month and in collaboration with community partners, including Cinevolution Media Arts Society, Chinese Canadian Museum, and Vancouver Heritage Foundation. The walks were led by historians, curators, educators, and community members, including: John Atkins, Steven Dragonn,Yubing Guo, Helen Lee, and Imogene Lim. The Chinese Storytelling Centre offered tours for school groups.

In addition, a video to document the Chinatown mural walks was commissioned from local digital media artists Alisha Weng and Marc Guenette. 

The community celebratory gathering was hosted by Cinevolution Media Arts Society on May 24, 2025. Families of the women depicted in the mural, community advisory committee members, project artists and community members who participated in the project were invited to the gathering. A traditional lion dance by Fluffy & Friends opened the event, along with remarks by Yun-Jou Chang, Executive Director, Cinevolution Media Arts Society, Imogene Lim, SAWM Community Advisory Committee and Doris Chow, Social Planner, City of Vancouver. In addition, a buffet of celebratory cultural foods was offered to guests, including a full roasted pig. All food and beverages were sourced from local Chinatown restaurants and businesses. 

During the event, a separate tent was set-up to screen the SAWM Digital Story projects by Daniel Chen, Alger Liang and Catrina Longmuir, as well as photos and images documenting the community engagement phases, artist team process and artwork development.
